Activity: Anglo-Chinese School (International)’s Passion of dreams Concert. Date: 16th and 17th May 2008, Friday and Saturday My duty for the event began at 1830 hrs. I was down to help out as part of the students’ council at the reception area and ticketing. From then till like 2030hrs, I was standing by the entrance of the concert hall, waiting to tear off the tickets from the audiences. At certain point of time during the night, especially during the interval, I was made to stand by the door collecting donatations for the less fortunate China Earthquake victims or used as an usher to prevent people from entering unauthorized areas of the hall. The following day, though I was needed for that night, I volunteered myself again to help out. I had to go to the venue slightly earlier to help blow balloons which were later released that night. After that, I repeated the exact same duties as before. When the concert finally ended. I stayed back to help clean up the place. From this experience, I learnt that being quick and alert was important as I while tearing off the tickets, I had to ensure the audience entering the hall have a valid ticket for the day or preventing anybody from sneaking in. During the event itself, I was given a break and was allowed to view the performances. While watching I felt a bit useless on why I was sitting down on the seats watching the performance instead of being up on stage. That made me feel like joining a performing arts CCA.
